The holidays have arrived! Here’s some help with all of the culinary temptation you may encounter during the most festive of seasons.
Don’t Skip Breakfast!
Eating a balanced breakfast sets the tone for your entire day & is actually good for weight loss. When you skip it, you’re more likely to fatigue faster when your body & brain run low on fuel. It also helps improve memory & positively affects the tasks that require the retention of new information.
Spend a few EXTRA minutes at the Gym
Cardio is KEY! Add extra time to your treadmill timer, go an extra mile on that bike trail or simply add a couple more reps to that set you’re already doing. Just be CONSISTENT!
Be Mindful
YOU are the ONLY person who knows exactlyhow much you consume on a day to day basis. So pay attention to how BIG your plate is or how many holiday cookies you've “snacked” on throughout the day. Every little bit COUNTS & adds up very QUICKLY. So learn to indulge only in moderation. What’s MOST important is what you’re doing 90% of the time.
Satisfy Your Hunger BEFORE the Shindig
Filling up on water & non-fattening foods will ensure that your don’t overeat. A piece of fresh fruit and/or nuts are good but proteins are perfect because they take longer to digest. Once you arrive, BEFORE starting with the warm hors d’ oeuvres, opt instead to snack on a fresh fruit & veggie platter or indulge in a green salad to start. Not only will you make sure that your fill of “living” foods, you’ll also feel better about ending the night with that slice of pie.
Relax & Feel the LOVE!
Holidays can be stressful with all the cooking, shopping, traveling & entertaining. Feeling the pressure of making everyone happy is overwhelming at times. Slow down from time to time to just BREATHE & practice GRATITUDE. Pick your battles wisely, prioritize properly & just LET GO of the SMALL stuff! Enjoy the company of your loved ones, near & far. Laugh & be Merry! NOTHING is better for the soul than TOGETHERNESS!
