A properly controlled environment will produce more per square foot than an improper one. I know, seems like a pretty basic concept right? Well, you would be surprised at how many people have grow rooms that are too large for their budget.

Cultivation 101 Part 2

grow_pic-dec_2010Last issue we discussed the five main factors that effect plant growth. This issue we will take the first factor (light) and break it down so that you can gain a better understanding of proper lighting techniques and best practices and why plants need it.

Plants use the process of photosynthesis to convert energy from light into a chemical energy that then can be used by the plant in order to grow. Plants use Light, CO2, and H2O to create sugar, which is used for cellular production in plants.

Since this is the first entry in this section I decided to start with the first question that people who are interested in growing need to ask themselves… “What do I need in my grow room?”

Obviously, it will be different for each person. However, there are some basic fundamentals that will be the same for everyone. Once you understand these fundamentals, you will be able to start off in the right direction.
