Dining out can be daunting for people who live with food associated illnesses and allergies. I have CRC (Candida related complex) which I control with diet: no alcohol, no sugar, no milk products, no wheat, no rice, no yeast and no gluten. Rattling that list off without sounding like Meg Ryan in “When Harry Met Sally” already makes me feel anxious, not to mention the potential impossible menu, impatient server and careless kitchen can add to my nerves as well. And well, who doesn’t just want to enjoy the experience of eating out without all that drama?
Fortunately, here in LA there are a variety of places I can go that accommodate my diet with varied menus, friendly service and delicious, dependably made dishes. One such place is The Hollywood Corner in Hollywood. This is actually a favorite spot of mine because they have a variety of fresh herbs and vegetables, use high grade meats and most importantly, offer gluten-free French fries! Service has always been patient with my questions and list of food concerns and my orders come to the table or to go box correct, hot and delicious!
In the mood for juicy burgers, my friend and I recently went to The Hollywood Corner. He ordered the People’s Burger with fries, and I special ordered a burger; no bun, no cheese, no sauce, extra tomatoes, side of mayo with fries. The burgers were hot and juicy, and the fries were crispy and seasoned with fresh rosemary—addicting! I’ve also modified one of the salads, ordered a side of steamed vegetables and I have not been disappointed.
I think their prices are reasonable- our burgers cost $9.95 each. Bring your vegetarian friends too, because the menu contains many great vegetarian options that are marked with symbols to easily pick them out. And go to their website, callthecorner.com to print out cost-saving coupons! As a special request diner, I would recommend The Hollywood Corner to anyone looking for a comfortable and delicious dining experience! The Hollywood Corner
